Anti-Spam Policy
Local information is useful, but usefulness is not consent. A digest that turns up uninvited in a resident's inbox is spam, however harmless its contents. We send to subscribers and to nobody else.
Our undertakings
- Each edition goes only to residents who subscribed to it and confirmed their address.
- Subscriber lists of one publisher are never combined with those of another town or newsroom.
- Publishers cannot upload address registers, resident files or lists from local events.
- Political campaigning is not accepted as content, from any side.
Not acceptable
- Sending to all residents of an area because their addresses are known.
- Using a news digest to advertise local businesses.
- Disguising the sender or the purpose of an edition.
- Delaying or obstructing unsubscriptions.
Handling of complaints
- We acknowledge each complaint and locate the publisher and the edition from the headers.
- If it holds up, that publisher's editions are suspended until the cause is clear.
- A confirmed breach ends our service to the publisher; the address is removed from all editions.
- Blocklist operators receive the facts of the case on request.
